President's Column for February 2022
Roanoke-Chowan Community College recently received notification from the NC State Auditor that the college’s financial audit is approved with ‘no findings’.
I am extremely proud of the college’s leadership team and our focus on day-to-day financial management, operations, and business administration. I am also pleased to welcome Dr. LaToya McNeill Wiley as our new vice president of administrative and fiscal services. Dr. Wiley will coordinate a team of professionals in financial management to oversee fiscal services for the college. Dr. Wiley brings a wealth of experience in finance and administration including governmental statutory requirements. With her guidance, along with our outstanding trustees, faculty, and staff, we will continue this record of excellence in fiscal management.
In other new developments at the college, we are now offering short-term training at three county locations making career pathways more accessible to students in Bertie, Hertford and Northampton counties. Classes are beginning soon at the Educational Vitality Center in Lewiston Woodville; at the Northampton Career and Technical Academy of Innovation near Conway; and continuing on the main college campus in Hertford County.
Students may now enroll in nurse aide training, certified truck driver courses, and emergency management technician training at these locations. There is a demand for all of these careers in the Roanoke-Chowan area and certification may lead to immediate jobs with competitive salaries and benefits.
For more information about enrolling in one of these top career pathways, call the Office of Continuing Education and speak to Sharda Britt, registrar, at 252.862.1307 or email her at sdbritt0117@roanokechowan.edu.
There has never been a better time to enroll in short-term training for jobs in demand right now. Resources are available to all eligible students for tuition support, including grants and scholarships.
