Transfer from Another Institution
STEP 1. APPLY
Complete an application for admission either in person at the Admissions Office or online.
STEP 2. PROVIDE OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS
Submit official high school transcript or official GED scores to Admissions immediately after applying to the college. You should have your transcripts evaluated by the Registrar:
- If you have course work at another regionally accredited college you believe may count toward your R-CCC degree or certificate
- If you have met prerequisite requirements at another college for a R-CCC program
- If Financial Aid has requested you have your transcripts evaluated
- If you are attending R-CCC using Veteran Affair’s (VA) benefits
Students are allowed through the end of their first semester to submit transcripts, after which a registration block is placed on their record. All official documents, such as transcripts from other colleges, become the property of R-CCC and cannot be returned or reissued.
Note: Facsimile transcripts may be used to register for courses; however, official transcripts must be on file in Student Development Services before registering for another term. Faxed copies are not considered official transcripts.
In some cases, a course description and/or course syllabus may be required in order to determine the transferability of a course. No general education courses in math and English may be taken until the transcript evaluation is completed. Also, the evaluation determines if placement testing is needed.
Transfer students must complete at least 25 percent of the required semester hours of resident credit at R-CCC to be eligible to receive a degree, diploma, or certificate.
STEP 3. MEET WITH AN ACADEMIC ADVISOR
An academic advisor can access your previous course information through our computer system to provide an unofficial evaluation of courses. The academic advisor can then recommend courses for you to take for the upcoming semester.

STEP 5. PAY YOUR TUITION AND FEES BY THE POSTED DEADLINE
You can pay your tuition and fees by phone, by mail, or in person at the Business Office. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify, and R-CCC also has a payment plan available.
STEP 6. PURCHASE YOUR BOOKS AND SUPPLIES
Take a copy of your class schedule along with your student identification card to the R-CCC Bookstore (located in Jernigan Building, Room 111) to purchase your textbooks. For bookstore hours, call (252) 862-1292 or view their site online. Note: There is a 5-day return policy on books. So shop wisely.
And finally, enroll in class!!!
Transfer to Other Institutions
Courses successfully completed at R-CCC with a grade of “C” or better may be transferred to any other college in the North Carolina Community College System. The transfer core 44 credit, however, does not guarantee admission into a specific program within an institution.
To facilitate transferability to the University of North Carolina System, the
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) was developed between the UNC System and the North Carolina Community College System for transfer between the two systems. A number of private colleges and universities also have adopted the CAA.
Students who complete the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degrees may be able to transfer with junior status.
