NCCCS President Stith visits R-CCC
AHOSKIE - The president of the North Carolina Community College System, Thomas A. Stith, III, visited the campus of Roanoke-Chowan Community College on December 7 to tour and learn about the college's recent success. He heard presentations from President Murray J. Williams, as well as from students, faculty, and staff. Several trustees joined President Stith on his visit that included assisting with a demonstration of emergency medical sciences in the college's EMS truck that is used to train emergency medical technicians throughout the Roanoke-Chowan area.
In his remarks to the board and leadership team, Dr. Stith said, "The community colleges fuel the job engine for North Carolina. The ‘Great 58’ serve over 500,000 students per year, and I appreciate the support and commitment of Roanoke-Chowan Community College as we move forward and continue to provide a pathway to opportunity for North Carolinians."
President Stith addressed R-CCC trustees and leadership team during the visit.
President Murray J. Williams, R-CCC, welcomed Dr. Stith to campus.
President Stith performed a needle decompression with assistance from William Blanchard, Director of Public Safety Training and Megan Hunnicutt, Fire Coordinator. Public Safety/Emergency Medical Science training is one of the top adult continuing education certificate programs of study at R-CCC.
