R-CCC Welcomes New President, Dr. Murray J. Williams
On May 1, 2021, Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) welcomed its 10th president, Dr. Murray J. Williams to campus.
In a welcome email to the campus community, Williams shared, "Roanoke-Chowan Community College is a special place where opportunities are endless, hope is not deferred, and dreams come true. For over 50 years, R-CCC students have experienced faculty, staff and administrators who care and support, and who help them achieve success. We will continue to uphold this legacy."
Williams began the week by celebrating faculty during Teacher Appreciation Week. She shared with faculty and staff, "I am excited about the future of R-CCC, and especially about working with you as we create a bright future for our students, employees and community."
In announcing Williams as the next president in March, Jeri Pierce, R-CCC Board of Trustee Chair stated, "It is her experience, dedication to the mission of the community college, commitment to student success, and interpersonal demeanor that has convinced the Board she is the right person for R-CCC today."
Williams previously served as Vice President of Adult Education and Academic Support for Southern Crescent Technical College in Griffin, GA. Along with other senior leadership positions, she previously served as Vice President of Academic Affairs for Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, GA. Williams earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, an Ed.S as an Education Specialist, and a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA; a Master of Christian Education from Luther Rice University in Lithonia, GA; and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS.
