R-CCC celebrates Women's History Month
(AHOSKIE) Roanoke-Chowan Community College celebrated Women’s History Month on campus throughout the month of March.
“Women’s History Month is a time to honor and recognize the achievements of remarkable women throughout history,” states Dr. Murray J. Williams, president of the college. “It is a time to celebrate the women who have gone before us, to encourage the women who walk beside us, and pray for those women who will come after us.”
The month’s theme of “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope” recognized the ways in which women have provided healing and hope to humanity through the generations. This theme was used in daily emails entitled ‘She innovates” that shared quotes from famous women in history who strived to make a difference. At least twice a week a "She speaks" trivia contest was held with prizes for winners.
The college kicked off the month’s activities with a "Walk like a Boss in Heels". A special video was produced featuring the women on the college’s senior team discussing women who have influenced them in their lives. This video is located on the R-CCC TRIO services You Tube page.
On March 24th a ‘Women’s History Month Celebration’ was held featuring guest keynote speaker Natasha Holley, clinical director and CEO of Integrated Family Services, LLC.
The month’s activities were coordinated by TRIO Student Support Services and the Student Services Association.
