R-CCC President appears on Hampton Roads Show

AHOSKIE, NC –Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) President Dr. Murray J. Williams was featured on the Hampton Roads Show (HRS) on July 15. She was interviewed by HRS host, Tara Wheeler, and asked about key developments at the college as well as how R-CCC supports the community through the Small Business Center (SBC) on campus.

The interview with Williams is one in a series of 12 interviews arranged by SBC Director SaRatta Murphy. Earlier interviews featured Melissa Keys of ENC Industrial Supply, a business assisted by R-CCC’s center, and Murphy has discussed the free resources that are offered to small business owners. R-CCC SBC sponsors the show’s small business segment each month.

“Supporting and promoting local small businesses isn't just about boosting our economy—it's about fostering community resilience and innovation,” explained Murphy. “By providing essential resources and guidance to small business owners, we empower them to thrive, which in turn strengthens the fabric of our neighborhoods, towns and county. Our mission is to ensure every entrepreneur has the tools they need to succeed, because when they flourish, we all do."

By being part of the show, Williams was able to highlight R-CCC’s programs and some of the college’s recent achievements.

“I was thrilled to accept the invitation to be part of the Hampton Roads Show. I believe it is important to showcase all the resources that our college has to offer,” said Williams.

“Our Small Business Center staff stands ready to provide resources and referral information, free small business-focused webinars, and free use of our business resource center. The SBC offers everything our community needs to know about starting up and successfully operating a small business and elevating an existing business. I encourage business owners to take advantage of these resources,” Williams added.

Upcoming interviews will feature Dacia Jenkins of D'luxe Beauty Bar, Dr. LaKeisha Walker of Bridge of Hope Life Transformational Services, and a spotlight on the newest coffee shop in Hertford County, Java Way Coffee Co. The series will air each month through March 2025.
